O M I R O S : Greek artist born in 1927. Lived in Paris, France from 1953 to 1970. Presently residing and working in the United States, France and Greece.

   1989-1990 - Entire decoration of a Cultural Center in Skhimatari, Beotia, in the outskirts of Athens, close to Tanagra, 65,5 km. from Athens. Omiros' work there                       include the following:
                          1- Two ceramic murals.
  
                          2- Large swimming pool 66 x 33 feet (20 x 10 meters), composed of 2000 ceramic tiles 12x18in.  The floor and walls of the pool are compositions of                                    Greek Mythological themes.
                          3- Ceiling mobile decoration.
                          4- Permanent display of 36 paintings (Greece)
   1995 - Decoration of a swimming pool 92 x 33 feet (28 x 10 meters) at 380 Mountain Road,  Union City, New Jersey, USA
   2009 - The OMIROS BUILDING. 354 Avenue C. Bayonne NJ, USA. Omiros compositions in the building are  the following:
                         1- Large ceramic mural on the building facade 33x8 ft made up of 33 simultaneously rotating triangular columns 1x8 feet showing alternatively three                                   abstract compositions.
                         2- Vertical ceramic flat fountain in the lobby of the building 12x24 ft of an abstract theme.
                         3- Stain glass pin wheel made up of four circular stain glass window each of 5 ft in diameter disposed in a 17 ft diameter steel wheel rotating as to                                   position alternatevely each stain glass window in front of a single 5 ft opening to the street.
                         4- Six large scupltural steel works including flat mobile sculptures, roof sculture and raillings done in collaboration with Paul Hriso.

 

     An artist working in abstract style until 1970, Omiros paints from this date on, using a large variety of themes with his own expressionist style and procedure (byzantine, mythologies, zodiacs, four seasons, fashions, dances, and various sports) continuing nevertheless simultaneously his abstract manner.
     In his recent work (1996-1999) he adds a new procedure of painting on canvases started by children as well as different themes in one painting.
